General Overview

Developed and taught by world renowned ultrasound lecturers from Europe and Asia, this 3-day seminar will give you the essentials you need to approach diagnostic ultrasound. Topics covered will teach you the “How-to” for using ultrasound to diagnose and manage the most common cases in your clinic.  Knowledge gained will be reinforced with practical sessions and access to instructional video clips through E-Learning.

  • Introduction of abdominal ultrasound- why we need to perform abdominal ultrasound examination
  • Ultrasound of liver, gallbladder, spleen

  • Ultrasound of adrenal glands
  • Ultrasound of pancreas

8:30-9:30 Introduction to abdominal ultrasound
1 What is ultrasound? What is abdominal ultrasound?
2 How to interpret different treatment plans and outcomes with or without ultrasound. Sample of 2-3 clinical cases

9:30-10:30 How to perform a systematic abdominal scan
1 How to prepare animals for scans
2 How to prepare the machine and choose the settings
3 Abdominal organ anatomy
4 How to perform a systematic abdominal scan
5 How to interpret ultrasonographic Images of normal

10:30-11:00 Coffee break

11:00-12:30 Basic knowledge of ultrasound machine, artifact, and keyboard settings
1 How to set up your ultrasound machine
2 Most common artifacts
3 The keyboards

12:30-14:00 Lunch break

14:00-14:40  Lab
(Using camera to project the images on screen to show)
How to perform a systematic abdominal scan and knowledge of machine setting.
How to recognize artifacts.

14:40-17:30 Participants divided into small groups for practical session

1 The anatomy of liver and gallbladder
2 How to interpret normal ultrasonographic images of liver and gallbladder
3 How to interpret ultrasonographic images of liver and gallbladder pathology
4 The anatomy of spleen
5 How to interpret normal ultrasonographic images of spleen
6 Ultrasonographic images of spleen pathology

9:30-10:30 Ultrasound of urinary system
1 The anatomy of upper and lower urinary system
2 How to interpret normal ultrasonographic images of kidney, ureter, urinary bladder and urethra
3 How to interpret ultrasonographic images of upper and lower urinary system pathology

10:30-11:00    Coffee break
    
11:00-12:30     Ultrasound of reproductive system     
1 The anatomy of female reproductive system
2 How to interpret normal ultrasonographic images of female reproductive system
3 How to interpret ultrasonographic images of female reproductive tract pathology
4 How to interpret normal ultrasonographic images of male reproductive system
5 How to interpret ultrasonographic images of the male reproductive tract pathology.

11:00-12:30     Lymph nodes, abdominal free fluid
Instruction for performing FNA     1 The anatomy of Lymph nodes  
2 How to interpret normal ultrasonographic images of Lymph nodes
3 How to interpret ultrasonographic images of the Lymph nodes pathology
4 How to detect abdominal free fluid with ultrasound
6 How to do perform FNA
