Information about nutrition in clinically healthy cats as well as in diseased cats will be given. Dietary management of diseases is an important issue in successful therapy. Nutritional guidelines for diseases of kidneys, bladder, liver, gastrointestinal tract, pancreas and heart as well as for cat patients suffering from neoplasia or allergy will be imparted.
The course gives the practitioner a throughout understanding of feline endocrinology. Major topics include polyuria/polydipsia, diabetes mellitus, hyperthyroidism, hyperaldosteronism and hypercalcemia. Many of these diseases represent a diagnostic challenge, for many of them treatment decisions are difficult and for some they need to be made as soon as possible in order to save the pet´s life. Between the theoretical lectures clinical cases are discussed with differential diagnosis, further diagnostics and therapeutics.
