Anaesthesiology 3:

Disease-specific Aspects of Small Animal Anesthesia, Multimodal Pain Management, Life Support in Cardiac Arrest Patients, and Postoperative Intensive Care

TBA 2026 | Shanghai, China

General Overview

The 2026 Advanced Anesthesia (Anesthesia III) course program is designed for veterinarians who wish to advance their skills in contemporary techniques of anesthetic and perioperative patient management in small animal practice and have already acquired foundation knowledge in the Basic Anesthesia Course I and the level I Advanced Anesthesia (Anesthesia II) course program. The program provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of how the principles of anesthesia and analgesia are applied in small animal patients with specific preexisting diseases and conditions, such as the patients with cardiac, neuronal, ophthalmological, trauma, renal, hepatic, gastrointestinal, etc, disease and in specific patient groups (brachycephalic animals, neonates, and senile animals). The pathophysiology of pain and the concept of multimodal pain management will be addressed. Furthermore, participants will learn in simulator labs how to apply Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support during cardiopulmonary arrest . Finally the postoperative intensive care for the surgical patient will be addressed.

Topics:

  • Anesthesia equipment
  • Principles of cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Patient & disease-sepcific aspects of anesthetic case management
  • Pathophysiology of pain and concepts of multi modal analgesia
  • Postoperative intensive care of the surgery patient

Workshops:

  • Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support workshops
  • Anesthesia for the dental/maxillary & eye patient
  • Anesthesia for the patient with renal & liver disease
  • Anesthesia for the neonate, senile and brachycephalic patient
